“When you elect a clown, you get a circus.”

Not sure who first wrote that. And though it seems tailormade for Trump, it predates his “presidency” by at least a few years.

But oh what a circus this year has been.

Mine has been pretty crazy too, even though I’m in Canada and mostly looking south at the daily dumbfuckery. Perhaps 2019 will bring positive changes for the U.S., and I’m hoping it will be a good year for me too, what with this new book coming out.

Yes, I’ve been busy working on and doing promotion for a book launching in a few weeks’ time. As a result, I didn’t do as much blogging as I would have liked, but I did have some that hit big. Here are my top 10 blog posts for 2018:

1. Dear Costco Shoppers: This Is Why We Hate You
This piece was unintentionally crowdsourced.

I made a post on my Facebook page about how much I hate shopping at Costco, and the comments came rolling in about all the things about that store that drive people bugshit. And it’s not the store, but the people who shop there.

And so, I went on a tirade, and it blew up big.

2. Keto Is the Dumbfuck Diet Du Jour, But that Won’t Last
I’ve been writing about fad diets, and a lot about low carb foolery, for a long time. This is a culmination of that research crammed into one piece that shows how paleo has jumped the shark and now it’s keto’s turn to “shine” again.

3. Every Dumbfuck Food Documentary on Netflix, Summarized
2018 was no different in that I still like putting “dumbfuck” in the title of my posts.

And this title speaks for itself. Whether it was Farmageddon, Fat Head, or Fed Up, I did a scathing summary of the shittiness.

4. The 13 Multilevel Marketers You Meet in Hell
This is another subject I’ve written several articles about, but I used Facebook to ask people for what annoyed them most about people pushing MLMs and got over 700 comments and almost a hundred private messages. I went through them all, reading every dirty trick used to push everything from Amway to Isagenix, and created a list of 13 multilevel marketers we love to hate.

5. Tony Robbins Has Always Been Shitty
I hated Tony Robbins before it was cool. And yes, I’ve seen him in person. I was “forced” to go by my boss’s boss back in 2007, and I could feel the brain cells die like I was on a tequila bender with a glue sniffing chaser.

Fuck that guy.

2018 was a bit of a reckoning for him because of his criticisms of the #metoo movement, but it didn’t last. He’s recovering just fine, as generally happens when famous men are shitty toward women. In fact, he’s presenting in my province next month.

I say he’s always been shitty because of the pseudoscientific nonsense he’s been spouting all along. For a scientific evisceration of it all …

6. Incels are a Hate Group Promoting Rape and Murder
There is a lot of misogyny in the fitness industry, and I began calling out the alpha male bullshit in TIME Magazine back in 2014 after the Elliot Rodger massacre. A subset of “men’s rights,” which I’ve been highly critical of, I’d been meaning to write about these asswipe “involuntary celibates” for a while. With another incel inspired mass murder in Toronto this year, I couldn’t put it off any longer.

Seriously, fuck these guys. And by that, I mean no one should ever fuck these guys.

7. What Happened After She Said No
The most popular blog post I’ve ever published was titled “She Doesn’t Owe You Shit” that examined how men often feel entitled to women’s bodies. This piece was a follow up that had several dozen stories from women about the horrible things men did to them after these women told them no.

Content warning: Men being awful to women.

8. When Is the Right Time to Forgive a Sexual Predator?
I lost a friend this year, because he turned out to not be the man I thought he was.

As I mentioned, misogyny is rampant in the fitness industry, but I never thought my friend Alan was an abuser until I heard it directly from numerous victims. This coincided with Louis C.K. making his “triumphant” return. So I merged the two stories into this piece.

9. Jordan Peterson Revealed as a Men’s Rights Activist
With each passing day we learn more and more about what a far right misogynistic bigoted asswipe this douche is. I wrote a piece about Peterson back in March that was quite popular, and it prompted a massive backlash from his bigoted fanboys. Then I wrote this follow up piece that was even more popular where I revealed some of the horribly homophobic things his acolytes wrote about me.

10. The Difference Between a Nice Guy and a Good Man
This piece was popular enough that a big page decided to plagiarize it.

“But I’m a nice guy!” are words often spoken by men who are not so nice. They see women as something they can pour fake kindness into until sex falls out. Don’t fuck these guys either.
